This painting is a depiction of Australian eucalyptus leaves and wattle blooms picked from my garden and arranged in a ceramic jar, placed on a wooden tabletop. Painted from life, using ecofriendly oil paints. The muted tonal palette of umbers, ochres and olive hues, allow the texture of the short visible brushstrokes to bring the painting to life. The painting invites the viewer to find joy in the beauty that is all around us like the quiet simplicity of a sprig of leaves in a not so extraordinary jar.
