Guardians of Tanti Creek Mornington
As an artist, I am continually drawn to places where nature and history intertwine. This painting is part of a series inspired by many walks along the banks of Tanti Creek, through the grandeur of these ancient majestic gum trees. A living reminder of the stories, cultures, and ecosystems that have flourished here for millennia. My practice centres on spontaneous, alla prima brush strokes using oil paint ,with a subtle use of impasto to build tactile depth directly on the canvas. In this painting I hope the viewer will feel the warmth of the tree trunks and hear the gentle rustle of gum leaves. This series seeks to honour both the natural landscape and the enduring spirit of Boonwurrung Country.
